Blogging Tips: The Beginning

As mentioned several times throughout the site here at C3S, Blogging is important for any website. It may be the single most useful SEO tool available and aside from time invested it’s free to do. That isn’t to say it’s “easy” to do though. As a business owner it can be difficult to find the time* to write and difficult to know what to write. Luckily, I’m here to help with what will be a series of blogs designed to help you with your blogging. Blog.

Help The Novice

Assume you’re helping someone who has absolutely no idea how anything works. Seriously. If your company is a Nursery, write as if the person reading has never seen a tree before. It can be difficult to do because of your position in the profession I know, but not everyone is in the field and you’d be shocked how little the average person might know about what you do. Following my Nursery example, I’ve come up with a few examples of things that I (as a web programmer) have no idea how to do that are probably rather common for some.

  • Proper Way to Plant a Tree
  • Roses 101
  • Ideal Light Placement for (insert plant)

Those are things that I as a novice user don’t know anything about. They may not be in depth ideas that require a lot of thought, but I don’t know that. The real important part is that they are things I might Google search for if I was going to start working on my yard (which I do need to, if anyone wants to send tips). If your site has the information I need as a complete newcomer to the field and has helpful links to other things (products to buy for example) then you might have me hooked as a long time customer.

My basic example there was for a Nursery but it works in every field. If you ever find yourself stumped for something to blog about and have little time to “grind” out a post, just ask yourself what the most commonly asked newbie question that you haven’t blogged about yet is. The customers really will help you figure out what informative posts you should create.
